A sold out crowd packed into Saint Mary’s University’s Bill Greehey Arena on Thursday night to watch the 2018 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.
The 30th annual event featured 24 of the nation’s top college basketball players including William & Mary’s Connor Burchfield, Michigan’s Katelynn Flaherty and Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Joe Kilgore, who won their respective events.
Texas talent was on display when Kilgore took home the trophy in the Dunkin’ Donuts Slam Dunk Championship. Kilgore received a perfect score of 50 to edge out Texas Tech’s Zach Smith in the finals.
Flaherty, one of only two players in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to make 400 3-pointers, finished the night with 25 threes in the final round to claim the Marine’s Women’s 3-Point Championship title.
The NCAA leader in 3-pointers, Burchfield had no trouble putting up 21 shots from beyond the arc in the finals to secure the Great Clips Men’s 3-Point Championship.
Former San Antonio Spurs stars George Gervin, Sean Elliott and Bruce Bowen judged the Dunkin’ Donuts Slam Dunk Championship along with former NBA player and slam dunk champion Nate Robinson and former NBA player and current ESPN personality Jay Williams.
