Lamborghini unveiled its Charlotte home — and the brand’s hottest new vehicle — this week.
The Italian supercar manufacturer snagged a 15,000-square-foot spot at 6500 E. Independence Blvd.
Expect as many as 10 different models to be in the showroom in the upcoming months. Lamborghini’s Urus — its second-ever SUV— is on display. That vehicle is the world’s first super SUV, a status characterized by high performance, limited production and speed, says Kevin Dockery, general manager.
The Urus has a top speed of 190 miles per hour — and can accelerate from zero to 60 in 3.6 seconds. Features include bi-turbo V-8 engine, six different drive models, double-paned windows for acoustic and UV protection and real wood dashboards.
Prices start around $200,000. It will be available in the fourth quarter of 2018.
“This is a place to come and dream and fulfill those dreams and be part of something super nostalgic and cool,” says Dockery. “If you’re a customer moving into the luxury car market you have to give yourself permission to do it.”
An April 1 soft opening is targeted, with a grand opening to follow in May. Staff is on site, putting finishing touches on the space.
“I think the market is ready for this dealership,” says Eddie Littlefield, owner.
He’s invested roughly $4 million into the dealership. Littlefield also owns Lamborghini Carolinas in Greensboro, which opened in 2009.
“As a child, I was a car enthusiast,” Littlefield says. “Lamborghini has always been one of my favorite brands.”
