Come see why Big Ben Pub is the Best British Pub in the Queen City
We are named after the famous bell in the clock tower at the house of parliament in London. The bell weighs about 14 metric tons. Is 9 feet in diameter and more than 7 feet high. It was installed when the tall and stout Sir Benjamin Hall was commissioner of works. He was called “Big Ben” and members of parliament named the bell for him. On new year’s eve in 1923 the bell was first heard on the radio.
In 1949, Big Ben and the floodlit belfry first appeared on t.v.
