NFL Hall of Famer Reggie White’s House Still Available

The recent process to auction off late NFL Hall of Famer Reggie White’s estate at Lake Norman has failed to secure a sale.

Designed by White and wife Sara, the three-story luxury home on Connor Quay Court in Cornelius went up for auction in mid-March but did not garner a high enough bid to trade hands — despite “unprecedented interest” in the home, according to a statement from Charlotte-based online luxury real estate marketplace Interluxe, which represented the listing in developing a marketing campaign and seeking competitive offers.

“Through our representation, seven qualified individuals registered to bid to purchase the property,” Interluxe said in its statement. “The seller’s reserve was not met. The property continues to be shown and the seller remains hopeful to achieve her price.”

Bidding for the 13,640-square-foot lakefront mansion had started at $1.5 million, with bids increasing in increments of $250,000 and $100,000. A buyer’s premium of 9% would have been added to the highest bid, which is not being disclosed by Interluxe. Property owner Sara White ultimately chose not to accept that final bid.

Interluxe said that almost 70,000 unique visitors viewed the property on its website during the 45-day marketing period. Stacy Kirk, of Interluxe, added that the platform continues “to work with prospective buyers.”

Built in 2000, the mansion had been home to the White family, who remained in the Charlotte area after White’s retirement from the NFL. The defensive end, who played his last season in 2000 with the Carolina Panthers, had a highly awarded career that spanned 15 seasons. He died unexpectedly in 2004.

The home includes five bedrooms as well as seven full and three half-bathrooms. The acre property also houses a separate apartment, saltwater pool, private dock, several garage bays and a dog kennel and grooming station.

First put on the market for $4.5 million in 2007, the home had been relisted in 2017 at the lower price of $4.2 million and dropped to $3.92 million in February. The listing, then priced at $3.4 million, was taken off the market late last week, according to Zillow.

Interluxe is also handling the advertising and online bidding process for the Charlotte mansion of another NFL star — Houston Texans’ Johnathan Joseph. Bidding for that south Charlotte home near Quail Hollow Club is taking place this week.
