CHARLOTTE, N.C. – There is a new push to bring a music festival to Charlotte to boost economic growth.
First-term City Councilmembers Tariq Bohkari and Larken Egleston held a summit aimed at strengthening Charlotte’s music scene and they eventually want to bring major music festivals to the city.
They point to the billions of dollars generated through music by other cities like Austin and Nashville every year.
The council members said Charlotte needs to find a way to direct more music-centric dollars to the Queen City.
“We need to get to the point where we know who the unified coalition is and what the unified plan is, and then, we’ll understand a timeline and investment,” Bokhari said.
Bank of America Stadium could factor into the equation because the city of Charlotte currently has the right to use the stadium five days every year.
